Fire Destroys Over 18 Stalls at Market in Front of Wat Sothon

Chachoengsao: A late-night fire broke out at the market in front of Wat Sothon in Muang District, Chachoengsao Province, destroying more than 18 stalls. It took officials about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. No injuries or deaths were reported.

According to Thai News Agency, at 10:00 PM (October 19, 2015), Chachoengsao Municipality firefighters received a report from the public of a fire in the market across from Wat Sothon, Mueang District, Chachoengsao Province. They rushed to the scene with five Chachoengsao Municipality fire trucks.

At the scene, a fire was found raging. The fire was burning shops that were divided into sections and spreading rapidly. Firefighters quickly sprayed water and removed gas tanks from shops in the area. It took approximately 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. A preliminary investigation revealed that 18 shops were damaged by the fire, with no injuries or deaths.

The fire site is a dome opposite the front of Wat Sothon. It was built to allow local vendors to sell goods to tourists and also serves as a parking area. Inside the dome, more than 100 shops are selling various products.
