Fire Destroys Historic School Building in Ang Thong

Ang thong: A midnight fire broke out in an old wooden school building in the heart of Ang Thong town, resulting in the complete destruction of the structure. The blaze consumed the entire building, which was an over 80-year-old two-story wooden structure belonging to Ang Thong Kindergarten (Wat Thong Kung Tang Trong Chit 3) located on the Ang Thong-Ayutthaya road in the Phosa sub-district of the Mueang district.

According to Thai News Agency, the fire began on the lower right side of the building and quickly spread to the second floor, engulfing educational equipment inside. The incident prompted a response from more than 10 fire engines, which took an hour to bring the fire under control. Despite their efforts, the entire building was destroyed, resulting in damage worth millions of baht.

Mr. Raksak Thianchai, the District Chief of Ang Thong, stated that the building, despite its age, was still in use for teaching. He mentioned that the issue of old electrical wiring had been previously raised due to the building's age, and solutions were being sought before this unfortunate incident occurred.
