Nakhon Pathom: A 79-year-old father has tragically shot his daughter to death following a heated dispute over inherited land. The incident, which claimed the life of 52-year-old Ms. Phirun, has left the community in shock.
According to Thai News Agency, officers from Nakhon Pathom Police Station responded to a report of a shooting at 11:13 p.m. The incident took place at a two-story residence used as a shop and pool hall in Bang Khaem Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Pathom District, Nakhon Pathom Province. Upon arrival, police discovered a pool of blood near a marble bench. Ms. Phirun, who was shot in the right chest and left ribcage, was rushed to the hospital by relatives but succumbed to her injuries.
The shooter was identified as Mr. Prasit, the father of the deceased. According to Mrs. Phirun's son-in-law, disputes over the inherited land were frequent, with threats of violence exchanged between the father and daughter. On the night of the incident, an argument escalated while Mrs. Phirun was conversing with customers at a stone table near the shop. Mr. Prasit, in a fit of anger, retrieved a gun and returned to confront his daughter, firing a warning shot into the air before directing further shots at her, resulting in her death. In the aftermath, Mr. Prasit hid the gun under a motorcycle seat before the victim was taken to the hospital.
Police have taken Mr. Prasit into custody at Nakhon Pathom Police Station for questioning. They have also seized the .38 caliber gun used in the shooting, along with six rounds of ammunition, as evidence for legal proceedings.
