Bangkok: A famous fortune teller secretly met with Crime Suppression Division police after facing heavy criticism for accepting donations to Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. "Big Tao" revealed that the investigation is underway, and the case has not yet been accepted.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, disclosed progress in the case involving the fortune teller who opened a donation account using the name of a renowned temple. He mentioned that a TV show host initially contacted him, informing him that the fortune teller's secretary would request a meeting to provide information. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet. However, if any wrongdoing is discovered, legal action will be pursued as it constitutes a criminal offense. The investigation by the Crime Suppression Division has already made significant progress. Relevant agencies are also tracing the financial trail, but no previous complaints have been reported against the temple.
Meanwhile, Police Colonel Anek Taosuphap, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, stated that investigators have confirmed the fortune teller met with them to provide information and demonstrate his innocence. He noted that this might have been prompted by public questions and criticism. Investigators will conduct a preliminary interrogation before taking further steps.
Reporters noted that when the fortune teller met with investigators in the evening, he wore a long-sleeved green shirt, maintained a calm demeanor, and appeared unconcerned. He also presented financial documents to support his statement.
