Ekanat Responds with a Smile to Thaksin’s Alleged Threat of Government Removal

Bangkok: "Ekanat" smiles after being asked about "Thaksin's" threat to remove him from the government.

Mr. Ekkanat Promphan, Minister of Industry and Secretary-General of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, responded with a smile when questioned about rumors involving former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Allegedly, Thaksin had threatened to oust Ekkanat from the government if he failed to vote in favor of the Entertainment Complex draft bill. Ekkanat deflected the question by indicating that the issue would be addressed in an upcoming party meeting, emphasizing the importance of discussing it within the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party before making any public statements.

According to Thai News Agency, the situation surrounding the draft bill is not the only matter on Ekkanat's agenda. He is also involved in an investigation concerning a steel company linked to the collapse of the State Audit Office building. This case has been designated as a special case and is currently under the purview of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI). Ekkanat announced that the Ministry of Industry plans to hold a press conference on April 10 to address this issue further.
