Chalermchai Dismisses Claims of Coercion Over Entertainment Complex Act

Bangkok: "Chalermchai" confirms that no one is threatening to vote to accept the Entertainment Complex Act draft, asserting that the news circulating is false and unrelated to cabinet seat adjustments. He urges waiting for the Democrat Party's stance to be discussed tomorrow.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and leader of the Democrat Party, addressed the party's position on the Entertainment Complex Business Act draft. He mentioned that a meeting of Democrat MPs is scheduled for tomorrow morning, prior to the parliamentary session, to deliberate and establish the party's stance. Mr. Chalermchai reiterated that contrary to reports, no one instructed him on how to vote, and he dismissed the circulating news as false.

In response to inquiries about whether voting for the draft law would influence cabinet position adjustments, Mr. Chalermchai clarified that it is unrelated. He emphasized independent thinking and assured that no threats have been made against them. He stressed the importance of providing accurate information and encouraged discretion among all parties.

If the Democrat Party meeting results in a division, Mr. Chalermchai noted that internal discussions are necessary. He pointed out that the party functions with established rules and systems, urging patience for the outcome of tomorrow's meeting.

Regarding apprehensions about opposition from various parties, Mr. Chalermchai acknowledged listening to all perspectives but emphasized the inevitability of decision-making in a democratic setting. Although many parties are observing the Democrat Party's stance, he downplayed the attention, stating that as a small party, they are not under intense scrutiny.
