Dusk Show: Eng Ko, the Legendary Brave Fighter of Liangshan Mountain

Pak Nam Pho: Eng Ko, one of the 108 heroes of Liang Shan Bo, is a legendary tale that has been recounted for generations among the Chinese people. The story is set during the Northern Song Dynasty, under the reign of Song Huizong Emperor from 1100 to 1125. It revolves around the Liang Shan Bo bandits in Shandong Province, where Liang Shan Mountain, known for its cliffs and defensive terrain, plays a significant role. Eng Ko is celebrated as a hero of Liang Shan Mountain.

According to Thai News Agency, the traditional parade at the Pak Nam Pho market features a performance known as Eng Ko-Pha Boo, which showcases fighting techniques unique to each performer. The tradition of playing Eng Ko in Pak Nam Pho began in 1947, initiated by Mr. Ko Sua Sae Tia, a Chinese man from Toukao Village, Pho Leng District, Chaozhou Province, China. Mr. Ko Sua had previously performed Eng Ko in a Chinese village before moving to Pak Nam Pho, where he worked on a cargo ship.
