According to Thai News Agency, the Laureus World Sports Awards 2025, held in Madrid, Spain, celebrated the achievements of the world's best athletes. Armand Duplantis, a Swedish pole vaulter, clinched the Sportsman of the Year award after winning the Olympic gold medal for the second consecutive time and breaking his own world record.
Simone Biles, a gymnast from the United States, was honored with the Sportswoman of the Year award after her remarkable performance at the "Paris Games 2024," where she secured three gold medals and one silver. This accolade marks her fourth time receiving the award, equaling the record held by former US tennis legend Serena Williams, who won it in 2017, 2019, and 2020.
Real Madrid was recognized as the Team of the Year following their triumph in clinching their 36th La Liga title and 15th UEFA Champions League title. Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal, a remarkable young talent from the Spanish national team and Barcelona, was awarded the Best Young Player award. At just 17, he played a crucial role in helping the Bulls win Euro 2024.
The award for the most iconic athlete went to Rafael Nadal, the former world No. 1 tennis player from Spain and a 22-time Grand Slam champion, who recently announced his retirement.
