Bang Bua Thong: A drug-addicted young man was arrested after assaulting a neighbor's uncle, resulting in the elderly man suffering a broken leg. The arrest occurred following an incident where the man pretended to be asleep to evade police capture.
According to Thai News Agency, police responded to the scene after receiving reports of the assault, which took place in an alley within a village in the Bang Bua Thong District of Nonthaburi Province. Despite witnesses identifying the man as the assailant, he initially ignored police attempts to apprehend him by pretending to be asleep. Officers had to use a ladder to reach the second-floor balcony where the man was located. Upon waking, the man feigned ignorance, questioning the officers, "Why did you arrest me? What happened?"
A Facebook user detailed the incident, stating that the man attacked the uncle around 3:00 p.m., breaking the victim's leg in two places. The user recounted witnessing the assault while passing by on a motorcycle, promptly contacting the village headman to assist the victim, who remains hospitalized.
The arrest has not alleviated the concerns of local residents, who fear potential future incidents if the man is released. The man has a history of previous arrests and imprisonment, often causing disturbances upon release. Neighbors describe him as unstable, frequently carrying weapons and inciting fear in the community. They urge authorities or the man's relatives to seek treatment for him, as the ongoing situation has become increasingly untenable for those living in the area.
