Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved a draft royal decree to conduct an election for a member of the House of Representatives in Bueng Kan Province, Constituency 2, to fill a vacant position. The election is tentatively scheduled for March 30, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, disclosed that the Cabinet's decision is in response to the end of Mr. Suwanna Kumpiro's membership in the House of Representatives, as stipulated by the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, Section 101 (6) in conjunction with Section 98 (5). Proposed by the Election Commission, the draft royal decree is designed to ensure the election process complies with the Constitution and the Organic Act on the Election of Members of Representatives B.E. 2561.
The Election Commission has outlined a plan to hold the election within 45 days of the vacancy, by April 3, 2025, with the announcement of the election unit and eligible voters' list no less than 25 days before the election, by March 4, 2025. The election aims to fill the vacant House of Representatives seat in Bueng Kan Province, Constituency 2.
