Bangkok: The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Phongsri Woranuch, a revered national artist and Thailand's first Queen of Luk Thung, who passed away peacefully at the age of 85 after battling lung cancer.

According to Thai News Agency, Phongsri Woranuch, renowned for her contributions to Thai country music, succumbed to her illness after receiving treatment for a prolonged period. News of her passing was shared by the Facebook page "Movie Stars," which reported that the beloved artist died on April 6, 2025.

Phongsri Woranuch was honored as a National Artist in Performing Arts (Luk Thung Singer) in 1992. Her enduring influence on the Thai music scene is reflected in her unique voice and numerous timeless songs that continue to inspire artists and audiences alike. Despite being hospitalized frequently due to lung disease, she expressed a strong desire to spend her final days at home. On March 4, 2025, she left the hospital to recuperate at home, where she ultimately passed away peacefully.
