Bangkok: Cyber police have intensified their efforts against online gambling networks, resulting in the shutdown of five websites and the arrest of an online firearms sales gang within a day. Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwpaen, Commander of the Technology Crime Investigation Division, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Sirawat Deepo, Commander of Division 1, reported that operations were conducted across 12 locations by all divisions under the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) from 1 to 5. In total, 10 suspects were apprehended, associated with five gambling websites: bonus24hr, JUAD888H, betflixgun, FAH999, and LAVAMAX1688, which had over 1,000 members and was established by a group of teenagers.

According to Thai News Agency, last Friday saw the arrest of six suspects, including three website administrators and three individuals wanted on arrest warrants. Two additional suspects, brothers Mr. Naratphon and Mr. Natthaphat, were arrested yesterday. Mr. Naratphon was identified as the website's originator. The remaining suspects are undergoing investigation. Initially, they denied involvement in money laundering, but authorities have gathered sufficient evidence to proceed under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

In a separate operation, 'Fah Sang Mueang Kon,' a gang of teenagers was arrested for posting firearms on social media to challenge rivals. Police investigations, prompted by local complaints of frequent altercations and shootings, led to the arrest of two suspects with a Glock pistol and ammunition. The guns were real, and the suspects admitted to purchasing them online. Evidence also suggested that the gang was involved in illegal money lending and pawning activities, using firearms to intimidate debtors. The suspects face charges related to illegal money lending, operating a personal loan business without permission, and illegal possession of firearms.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong also issued a warning to teenagers, stating that young individuals in 2025 must adhere to the law. He emphasized that those who flaunt their power online will face immediate action from the cyber police.

In another development, authorities arrested individuals behind a fraudulent accommodation booking page known as 'Phu Ing Thar Resort Suan Phueng.' The scam resulted in financial losses for victims who were deceived into transferring money for room bookings. The public is advised to verify the authenticity of such online pages, especially during the travel season.

Additionally, a group of suspects was apprehended for sending fake SMS messages with links to steal money. A recent victim lost over 2.5 million baht after receiving an SMS purportedly from Lion Air offering free plane tickets and meals, which led them to install a money-stealing application. The suspects have been forwarded for legal prosecution.
