Nakhon ratchasima: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army marked the 77th anniversary of the founding of Army Area 2, reaffirming his commitment to the defense of the country and protection of the throne. He emphasized that victory or death is the only acceptable outcome in this mission. General Pana Klaewplodthuk expressed gratitude to the public for their birthday wishes on his 60th birthday.

According to Thai News Agency, General Pana Klaewplodthuk attended the anniversary celebrations at the Ruam Ruengchai Club, Suranaree Forces, Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The event commemorates the founding of the Second Army Area, which is celebrated annually on September 4th. Upon his arrival, General Pana extended birthday wishes to Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the Second Army Area, who also thanked the public for their well-wishes.

Lt. Gen. Boonsin expressed his appreciation for the support from the public during the unit's founding anniversary and his birthday. He reassured that he would continue serving the nation in a new capacity after his final year in service. He also acknowledged the Prime Minister's clear policy that strengthens military-government cooperation in safeguarding sovereignty, especially concerning the Cambodian mass protests scheduled for October 10th.

Lt. Gen. Boonsin emphasized that operations would be conducted with caution, prioritizing the safety and interests of the nation, as they involve the public. He has directed army commanders to collaborate closely with civilian agencies to ensure thorough planning.

He further stated, "Throughout this period, we have performed our duties to the best of our ability. We entrust our hopes to the Second Army Area to uphold national sovereignty and to drive forward missions in collaboration with all sectors to achieve our national security goals."

The history of the Second Army Region dates back to the reign of King Chulalongkorn, who ordered the establishment of the "Nakhon Ratchasima City Guards" in 1892. Over the years, the unit evolved, eventually becoming the 5th Infantry Regiment and later reorganized as the Third Army. In 1948, the Second Army was officially established, and it underwent several transformations to become the Second Army Region, responsible for military units in the Northeast.

The Second Army Region has been involved in numerous significant conflicts, including the Haw Suppression War, the Greater East Asia War, and the Indochina War. It also played a crucial role in defending the Thai-Cambodian border against external threats related to border and natural resource disputes.

Throughout its history, the Second Army Region has consistently devoted its resources to fulfilling its responsibilities, preparing to respond to various threats, and providing relief during disasters. It upholds the oath to defend the country and protect the monarchy, striving to ensure national security and the well-being of the people.
