Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has reported that the upper part of Thailand will experience some fog in the morning, while the North and Northeast will undergo cold to very cold weather. The South is expected to see little rain, prompting officials to advise people to take care of their health due to the cold weather.
According to Thai News Agency, the department's 24-hour weather forecast indicates that a high-pressure area or strong cold air mass covering the upper part of Thailand and the South China Sea is weakening. This development will lead to morning fog in the upper regions, although the northern and northeastern areas will continue to experience cold to very cold conditions. Meanwhile, the central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the eastern region, and the upper southern region, will experience cool to cold weather.
Mountaintops and hilltops are particularly affected, with very cold conditions prevailing. The public is advised to exercise caution regarding health due to the persistent cold and to be wary of potential fire hazards due to dry air. Travelers are also urged to be cautious when navigating through foggy areas.
The strong northeast monsoon affecting the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea is showing signs of weakening, resulting in light rain across the southern region. Maritime conditions remain challenging, with significant wave activity in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. In the Gulf of Thailand, waves are reaching heights of 2-3 meters and can exceed 3 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. The Andaman Sea sees waves of 1-2 meters near the shore, increasing to 2-3 meters further out, with even higher waves in stormy regions. Consequently, coastal residents in the eastern South are advised to stay vigilant against waves hitting the shore, while sailors are cautioned to navigate carefully and avoid thunderstorm-prone areas. Small boats in both the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to remain docked for another day.
In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, the weather is expected to be cool with some morning fog. Temperatures are anticipated to undergo slight changes, with a minimum of 16-18 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 29-32 degrees Celsius.
