Chulaphan Assures Timely US Tax Negotiations Amid Non-Disclosure Agreement

Bangkok: "Chulaphan" is confident that the US tax negotiations will be on time and will not be delayed. "Chulaphan" reveals that the US tax negotiation team will travel tonight, confident that it will be on time and will not be delayed, vowing to build confidence by considering the interests of the people, saying that it is considered a countdown, but cannot disclose the agreement.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance, gave an interview about the readiness to send a Thai team to negotiate tariffs in the United States tonight. He stated that the negotiation team this time has Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, as the head of the delegation traveling to negotiate the progress of talks with representatives of the United States and the private sector to ensure that the negotiations will yield positive results, with the delegation set to depart tonight.

As for the agreement or proposal, Mr. Chulaphan mentioned that he did not dare to disclose it in advance due to the signing of a non-disclosure agreement at the start of negotiations. Each country entering talks with the United States, including Thailand, has signed such agreements, making it challenging to discuss specifics before reaching an agreement. He confirmed that during the negotiation process between Mr. Pichai and the US government, considerations were made regarding the positive and negative impacts on the Thai people, emphasizing the need to address issues to minimize impacts, particularly on vulnerable groups like the agricultural sector.

When questioned about the timeframe, Mr. Chulaphan expressed confidence, indicating no fear of delays. He emphasized that the negotiation process is being approached from the beginning to ensure it doesn't extend excessively, which could affect tax rate adjustments. From the United States' perspective, Thailand is seen as having a proposal of significant interest, and there is confidence that the process will proceed smoothly without unnecessary delays.
