Chiang mai: Police are urgently investigating a case of a Chinese gang killing Chinese gangsters, deceiving their fellow countrymen to demand ransom in Chiang Mai, brutally murdering them, and dumping their bodies in the middle of the forest. Police found the body of Mr. Yang, 24, a Chinese national, wrapped in a black plastic bag and a bed sheet, then wrapped in a plastic sheet again. He was dumped in a forest on the side of the road near Ban Pa Heo, Tambon Mae Ram, Amphoe Mae Rim, Chiang Mai Province. Previously, Mr. Yang's sister had requested help in tracking down her brother after he crossed the border from the Kings Roman Special Economic Zone in Laos through the Sop Ruak Immigration Office in Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province, with another Chinese friend, Mr. Hugang. They hired a taxi to travel to Chiang Mai on July 8 and disappeared before being held for a ransom of 3 million baht on July 10.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritthapol Yisakorn, Commander of Provincial Police Region 5, revealed that Mr. Hugang, a Chinese friend who traveled with Mr. Yang, was found and claimed that Mr. Shang Benzin and Mr. Wang Shuang had arranged for Mr. Yang to come from Kings Roman to meet at a restaurant in the Nimanhaemin area of Chiang Mai to negotiate a gray business. After eating, he traveled in a sedan to Mr. Shang's rented house in Tambon San Phak Wan, Hang Dong District. Then he fell asleep. When he woke up, he found himself tied up and held at knifepoint, demanding ransom. He used 1.5 million baht to redeem himself.
He was then taken to Mr. Yang's bedroom and found that he had been murdered that night. Mr. Shang and Mr. Wang Guang then took him and Mr. Yang's body in a car and dumped the body in the forest before taking him to the hotel where the police found him. Initially, the police charged him with being an alien who entered and stayed in the Kingdom without permission.
On July 11, the police arrested Mr. Sang, one of the ransom gang, at Kad Farang. They also searched the rented house where the incident occurred and found a large amount of bloodstains in both the garage and the bedroom. Mr. Sang claimed that Mr. Wang Shuang had used a hammer to beat Mr. Yang to death and dumped the body in the forest on the Mae Sa-Pong Yaeng road in Mae Rim district before fleeing. The police are detaining Mr. Hugang (Mr. Yang's friend) and Mr. Sang for further questioning.
