Cyber Police Intensify Search for Call Center Gang Involved in Makeup Artist Scam

Bangkok: The Cyber Police Commander has issued an urgent directive to accelerate the search for a call center gang responsible for deceiving "Aum," a makeup artist associated with beauty pageants, into taking his own life due to stress.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pitch Suthangsu, known as Aum, a 38-year-old prominent makeup artist from Suphan Buri Province, fell victim to a scam orchestrated by a Facebook account named "Trapposan Co., Ltd." The perpetrators contacted him, enticing him to invest in supporting products, leading him to transfer money multiple times and suffer a loss of approximately 50,000 baht. Upon realizing the scam, Aum filed a complaint with the Kamphaeng Saen Police Station in Nakhon Pathom Province on July 6, 2015. The stress from the scam ultimately led to his tragic death on July 10.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwpaen, Commander of the Technology Crime Investigation Division, indicated that the perpetrators likely belong to a call center gang that deceives victims into making investments. It is suspected that many others have fallen prey to this group. Authorities are urgently working to track down those involved.

Furthermore, Pol Maj Gen Sarayut Junnawat, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division 2, has been instructed to collaborate with the investigation officers at Kamphaeng Saen Police Station, who initially received the complaint. The case is being reviewed to determine its status in the Thai Police Online system, as it falls under technology crime. The Cyber Police aim to utilize the information to expedite the investigation, gather evidence, and apprehend the perpetrators.
