Chainat: Today, the Royal Irrigation Department has increased the water discharge through the Chao Phraya Dam in Chainat Province to 1,000 cubic meters per second. This adjustment aims to accommodate the rising volume of water from upper areas, which is a result of continuous rainfall. Residents in low-lying areas outside the embankment have been warned to monitor the situation closely, as water levels may rise by another 0.6-1.7 meters. According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Irrigation Department reported that at 6:00 a.m., the C.2 water measurement station in Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan Province, recorded a water flow of 1,332 cubic meters per second, and this figure is expected to increase. This flow is directed into the Sakae Krang River, maintaining high water levels above the Chao Phraya Dam. Additionally, approximately 442 cubic meters per second of water have been diverted into the irrigation system on both sides of the Chao Phraya River. The increase in water discharge through the Chao Phraya Da m is a measure to keep the water level above the dam at an appropriate level. The current drainage levels are expected to cause a rise in water levels downstream of the dam, particularly in low-lying areas outside the embankment. Areas at risk include Khlong Phong Pheng in Ang Thong Province, Khlong Bang Ban and Hua Wiang Subdistrict in Sena District, and Lat Chit Subdistrict and Tha Din Daeng Subdistrict in Phak Hai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province (Mae Nam Noi). The anticipated rise in water levels in these areas is between 0.6 and 1.7 meters. Although community areas have not been directly affected, the Royal Irrigation Department urges residents along the Chao Phraya River, especially across 11 provinces, to remain vigilant and monitor developments closely. Further notifications will be issued if there are any changes.
