Cambodians Rush to Return Home, Overwhelming Sa Kaeo Border Crossing

Aranyaprathet: Cambodians overflowing the Ban Khlong Luek border crossing in Sa Kaeo Province are eager to return to their country following concerns from relatives. The permanent border crossing at Ban Khlong Luek, located in Aranyaprathet District, has seen thousands of Cambodians waiting to cross back into Cambodia. These individuals initially traveled to Thailand for work purposes and ventured into the inner regions. However, due to the unusual situation, their families back home have urged them to return.

According to Thai News Agency, the situation has prompted authorities to relax border controls temporarily. This adjustment is set to allow over a thousand Cambodians who have been stranded on the Thai side to make their way back into Cambodia. Simultaneously, more than 200 Thais stranded on the Cambodian side will be permitted to re-enter Thailand. This arrangement is available through a small gate adjacent to the Khlong Luek border checkpoint, operational from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. today only.
