Cambodian Man Arrested for Drone Intrusion into Thai Military Zone

Bangkok: Military police arrested a Cambodian man who had secretly entered Thailand and dropped a GPS drone. He is believed to have locked down Wing 5 and pointed to the second and third drones as bombs. Security agencies have issued a warning.

According to Thai News Agency, on August 4th, reporters reported that early this morning (3:00 AM), military police apprehended a Cambodian man who was flying a drone over a military unit within Wing 5. Initially identified as Mr. Re, the Cambodian man entered the country via the northern coast around 3:00 AM and was apprehended at 4:00 AM. He entered the Kingdom of Thailand via the Ban Laem checkpoint in Prong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province.

The suspect brought a black box measuring 3x3 inches, believed to be a GPS box, and left it there. The operation of the Cambodian drone operation team saw the first drone fly to inspect and test the anti-drone device and drop the GPS box. Subsequently, the second drone dropped a hand grenade and the third drone dropped a curved trajectory bomb.

Security agencies have notified all areas to thoroughly inspect any foreign objects, including GPS boxes, that may have been dropped by drones within their areas of responsibility.
