Cambodia Closes Ban Laem Border Crossing, Stranding Over 100 Trucks


Pong Nam Ron: Cambodia closed the Ban Laem checkpoint in Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province, resulting in more than 100 Thai cargo trucks being stranded, while border traders urged both sides to accelerate negotiations to find a solution as soon as possible.



According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere at the permanent border crossing at Ban Laem, Pong Nam Ron District, Chanthaburi Province, was tense this morning. The iron gate at the Cambodian border crossing was closed and did not open on time, while the Thai border crossing gate was open as usual from 8:00 a.m. Approximately 500 Cambodians gradually returned to the Cambodian side, with officials observing and facilitating.



In the parking lot of the weigh station at Ban Laem Market, more than 100 large trucks that cannot pass the border at the checkpoint are parked. The drivers reported that they are currently waiting for the company’s order to change the route to pass through the checkpoint. Although they will not be affected immediately, if the situation continues, it may cause significant disruptions. They are calling for both parties to quickly negotiate to find a resolution.
