Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved the extension of the emergency decree in the southern border provinces for another three months. This extension will be effective from January 20, 2025, to April 19, 2025, and marks the 79th time the decree has been extended.
According to Thai News Agency, the deputy government spokesman, Mr. Anukul Prueksanusak, announced that the extension applies to Narathiwat Province, excluding the districts of Yi-ngo, Su-ngai Kolok, Waeng, and Sukhirin. In Pattani Province, the decree will not cover the districts of Yaring, Panare, Mayo, Mai Kaen, Thung Yang Daeng, Kapho, and Mae Lan. Similarly, in Yala Province, the districts of Betong, Yaha, Raman, Kabang, and Krong Pinang are exempted from the emergency declaration.
The Cabinet has also decided to remove Yaha District, Yala Province, from the emergency decree area. Instead, the Internal Security Act B.E. 2551 will be enforced in Yaha from January 20, 2025, to September 30, 2025. This decision aims to unify and enhance the management of peace and safety in the affected areas.
