Bangkok: The Cabinet has approved the appointment of "Aonfa" as the new Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) and has extended the term of "Lt. Col. Nun" as Director of the Government Lottery Office. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Ms. Onfa Vejjajiva, currently serving as Secretary-General of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), will replace Mr. Danucha Pichayanan. Mr. Pichayanan has been reassigned to the position of Secretary-General of the Office of the National Water Resources, effective October 1, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, the Cabinet has also decided to extend the term of Lt. Col. Noon Sansanakom as Director of the Government Lottery Office (GLO). His contract, set to expire on August 26, 2025, has been extended to ensure the continuation of the N3 lottery number project, which is currently in the trial phase. Reporters noted that Lt. Col. Noon Sansanakom, also known as "Seth. Noon," is the son of General Niyom Sansanakom, a former commander of the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. He has been instrumental in various initiatives, including the digital lottery L6, the N3 lottery numbers, and efforts to reduce overpriced lottery tickets.
The new Secretary-General, Ms. Onfa Vejjajiva, brings a strong educational background to her role. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Chulalongkorn University, a Master of Science in Policy Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and a Master of Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan. Her work history includes serving as the Secretary-General of the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and as an ex officio board member of the NESDB. She has held various positions, including Deputy Secretary-General roles at the Civil Service Commission and the Cabinet, and has served as an advisor and director of different departments within the Cabinet Secretariat.
