Bangkok: The Cabinet has allocated a budget of 1.696 billion baht for the mid-year 2025 budget to assist with electricity bills for flood-affected electricity users in the northern region for the months of September-October 2024.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Government Spokesperson Anukul Prueksanusak revealed that the Cabinet has approved the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to utilize 1.696 billion baht from the central budget to provide electricity bill assistance to users in areas declared as flood disaster zones. This initiative covers electricity bills for September and October 2024 for both residential and small business users in 18 flood-affected provinces. The provinces include Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Tak, Phichit, Uttaradit, Phrae, Nan, Uthai Thani, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Bueng Kan, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya.
The assistance measures include a waiver of the September 2024 electricity bill and a 30% discount on the October 2024 electricity bill before VAT. These measures aim to alleviate the financial burden on residents and small businesses affected by the recent floods.
