Burma Extends Assistance and Compensation to Earthquake Victims in Thailand

Bangkok: Burma is prepared to offer assistance and compensation for social welfare rights to individuals affected by the recent earthquake.

According to Thai News Agency, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is leading efforts to support those impacted by the disaster. The team from the Center for the Resolution of the Civil Service Commission has been dispatched to the site of the collapsed building to provide aid and compensation. They have established temporary accommodations in Din Daeng and are facilitating transportation for relatives searching for missing persons.

Mr. Anukul Peedkaew, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, disclosed that the earthquake, which struck on March 28, 2015, inflicted significant damage across several provinces in Thailand, including Bangkok. The collapse of the new Office of the Auditor General building resulted in numerous casualties, injuries, and missing persons.

The Ministry's team, including officers from the Center for Accelerated Public Welfare Management, visited the affected area to assess the situation and deliver assistance related to social welfare rights. They are coordinating with the Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health, to provide mental health support, as many affected individuals are experiencing grief and are not yet ready to communicate or share information. The Ministry has also arranged temporary shelters for those searching for missing relatives, offering accommodations in Din Daeng, Bangkok, with transportation and advisory services regarding social welfare rights.
