Army Deploys Forces to Aid Myanmar Earthquake Relief

Bangkok: The Deputy Minister of Defense announced that the army will deploy forces to assist with the earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar. Deputy Minister of Defense, Gen. Nattapol Nakphanit, shared that Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, has been tasked by the Prime Minister to coordinate the military's involvement in the relief operations.

According to Thai News Agency, the deployment will include a rescue and search team, as well as a medical team with necessary medical supplies. In total, 49 personnel from the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters are set to travel on a C-130 aircraft, provided by the Royal Thai Air Force, to Myanmar. Their mission will be to offer initial assistance and assess the needs of the Myanmar government. This evaluation aims to determine if further aid and support are required, which would then be reported back to the Thai government for approval of additional assistance.
