Narathiwat: An explosion near the southern spanner of Maruebo Station in Narathiwat Province has led to significant disruptions in train services, as the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) adjusts its schedule to expedite repairs.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident was reported by the Maruebo Station Master at 6:33 a.m., resulting in damage to the spanner and spanner cushions in the affected area. Two military personnel were injured in the explosion, prompting security agencies to take immediate control of the area and initiate a comprehensive investigation.
In response to the incident, the State Railway of Thailand has temporarily revised the train schedule in Narathiwat Province. Local train no. 448, operating between Su-ngai Kolok and Surat Thani, will return to its starting point at Tanyong Mas Station as local train no. 453, traveling from Tanyong Mas to Su-ngai Kolok. Similarly, local train no. 453, running from Yala to Su-ngai Kolok, will reverse at Rueso Station, becoming local train no. 452 and traveling from Rueso to Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The SRT is currently working with security agencies to evaluate the situation for other trains in the lower southern region and plans to release updated schedules promptly. This incident has been identified as a substantial act of damage to state property, potentially causing concern among commuters.
The State Railway of Thailand is coordinating with the military and relevant agencies to accelerate inspections and repairs of the damaged tracks, aiming to restore normal train operations swiftly. Passengers are advised to exercise caution and avoid visiting risky areas unless necessary.
