Bhumtham Unaware of Newin and Anutin’s Meeting with Thaksin and Ung Ing

Bangkok: Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, addressed reports regarding a potential meeting between prominent political figures Newin Chidchob and Anutin Charnvirakul with Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Thaksin Shinawatra at the Pullman King Power Hotel in Bangkok. He stated he had no knowledge of such a meeting and suggested inquiries be directed to the involved parties themselves.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham also responded to concerns about potential conflicts within the coalition parties, highlighted by a recent Nida Poll survey. The poll indicated public perception of a conflict between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties. Mr. Phumtham, however, dismissed these concerns, stating that he has not observed any conflicts. He emphasized that while differences of opinion exist, it is a normal aspect of political collaboration and that the coalition parties continue to work harmoniously.

Addressing the anticipated joint meal among coalition parties, scheduled for February 25, 2068, Mr. Phumtham humorously remarked that sharing a meal is a routine occurrence and downplayed its significance. He assured that there are no pressing issues requiring concern, indicating that the gathering is a standard practice rather than a meeting to resolve conflicts.
