Bangkok: Citizens and tourists are invited to experience the charm of the "Metropolis Under the Moonlight" in Bangkok as the city prepares to host the Loy Krathong festival across 15 locations. This event aims to continue the valuable tradition of Loy Krathong, celebrated once on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month, falling on November 5, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, the festival, dubbed "Loy Krathong of Memories," will honor the grace of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The event, titled "Mahanakhon Tai Saeng Chan: Loy Krathong in the Thai Style at 15 Spots Around Bangkok," is organized by the Bangkok Cultural Council in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, and local partner agencies. It seeks to preserve and reflect the beauty of Thai art and culture throughout the city.
Mr. Phonphum Viphatiphume, President of the Bangkok Cultural Council, emphasized the importance of continuing and preserving this valuable Thai tradition. The festival invites citizens and tourists to partake in Loy Krathong as a Buddhist offering and contribute to conserving waterways in a traditional Thai manner. The main event locations and 15 sub-areas throughout Bangkok include Wat Bueng Thonglang in Bang Kapi District, Wat Lat Phrao in Lat Phrao District, and Phra Sumen Fort in Phra Nakhon District, among others.
