Bangkok: "Bangkok Port" is at the forefront of integrating the "NSW eD/O" electronic goods release order to usher Thai logistics into the digital era. This strategic move is part of the broader initiative to develop a Smart Port, aimed at minimizing processes, paperwork, and costs. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, emphasized the Ministry of Transport's commitment to advancing the nation's transportation and logistics systems in line with digital advancements. The initiative encourages the use of digital technology among subordinate agencies to modernize government services, ensuring they are transparent and meet the needs of both the public and business sectors. This approach aligns with the digital economy's focus on speed, efficiency, and seamless data connectivity. The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) has recently piloted the Electronic Goods Release Order (NSW eD/O) system at the Port of Bangkok, marking a first in this initiative. Ms. Manoporn highli ghted that the NSW eD/O system will streamline operations, cutting waiting times from three days to one and reducing paper use and logistics costs. This enhancement will bolster Thai businesses' competitiveness and fortify the national economy. It represents a significant modernization step in the country's logistics services, supporting the transition to a digital economy. This aligns with the government's vision of establishing Thailand as a regional logistics hub, setting the stage for the Port Authority of Thailand to evolve into a fully integrated Smart Port. Lt. Cmdr. Bhum Saengkham, Director of Bangkok Port, mentioned that the Port Authority of Thailand has designed the NSW eD/O system to be faster, transparent, and traceable. In partnership with the National Telecommunications Public Company Limited (NT) and the Customs Department, this initiative extends PAT's commitment to digital service development. NT's THAI NSW platform, the primary entity in this development, aims at modernizing import documen tation processes by adopting world-class standards and seamlessly linking with the port's operating system, including payment of duties, service fees, and real-time cargo release processes. This initiative is pivotal in transitioning traditional paperwork to a fully digital system. Moreover, the NSW eD/O system aligns with the Ministry of Transport's Digital Development Plan 2023-2027, which focuses on using digital technology to enhance efficiency and transparency in the nation's transport and logistics systems. This includes promoting Smart Ports and Digital Logistics to improve service connectivity, reduce operational steps, and support tangible changes in the new economy.
