Bangkok: BAAC has won two Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2025, a regional award in Asia, reaffirming its status as a model organization for its operations that take into account good corporate governance and the creation of benefits for society towards sustainability at the international level. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, President of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), received the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2025 in two categories: Corporate Governance and Social Empowerment. The awards, organized by the Asian NGO Enterprise Asia, honor leading organizations in Asia for their outstanding operations in sustainability, social responsibility, and good corporate governance. In 2025, organizations from 19 countries submitted more than 350 projects, and BAAC was one of the representatives from Thailand selected to receive the award. The awards BAAC received reflect the success and commitment of the bank in operating with transparency a nd adhering to the principles of good governance, along with creating positive impacts on society and the environment, driving the mission towards sustainability in accordance with ESG principles. Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, Manager of BAAC, expressed that BAAC, as a state-owned specialized financial institution with the vision of 'Sustainable Rural Development Bank', plays an important role in supporting the Thai agricultural sector for long-term strength. The bank is committed to improving the quality of life of farmers through its 'Essence of Agriculture' initiative, which emphasizes sustainability in all dimensions, from occupational knowledge and capital to community development participation. The Corporate Governance award acknowledges BAAC's adherence to good corporate governance principles through its 'Strengthening Resilience for Sustainable Rural Development' project, which highlights BAAC as more than just a bank. It aims to create opportunities for farmers to access funds, gain knowledge, and utilize m odern agricultural technology, fostering a sustainable bank and rural areas under the ESG principles. The Social Empowerment Award recognizes BAAC's efforts in promoting environmental care and conservation through the 'BAAC Carbon Credit: Where Air Becomes Wealth' project. This initiative allows farmers to earn income by planting trees and selling forestry carbon credits, with support in knowledge, carbon credit measurement, management, and market linking. The project aims to improve farmers' quality of life and instill long-term social and environmental responsibility. These awards signify an important step for BAAC in strengthening the organization, supporting the green economy development, and fostering self-reliance in communities for sustainable improvement of farmers' quality of life according to ESG principles.
