Bangkok: The Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has revealed that the opening and closing ceremonies of the 33rd SEA Games will focus on simplicity. The organizing committee is set to discuss various aspects, including security systems and guidelines for spectators attending sports events, on October 30, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, addressed the impact of the recent announcement by the Bureau of the Royal Household regarding the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. He stated that this event has been a significant loss for the Thai people and has deeply affected their morale.
The 33rd SEA Games, scheduled to take place from December 9-20, 2025, in Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla, will proceed as planned. However, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in coordination with the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee, will adjust the format of the ceremonies to be more suitable under the current circumstances.
Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the SAT, noted that the SAT has received guidelines from Minister Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn to ensure the appropriateness of the ceremonies. The focus will initially be on simplicity, while maintaining high standards.
