CIP launches new company dedicated to developing energy island projects globally

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (“CIP”) is launching Copenhagen Energy Islands (“CEI”), a new development company dedicated to developing energy islands globally with backing from Nordic, European, and North American investors

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Jan. 19, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Copenhagen Energy Islands will build on CIP’s long-standing experience and expertise within offshore wind to develop energy island projects globally, and is currently developing a portfolio of around 10 energy island projects around the North Sea, the Baltic Sea and in South-East Asia.

Energy islands are large-scale offshore energy hubs, which will enable the massive scaling required for the next generation of offshore wind deployment globally. They combine existing, proven technologies in a new and innovative way and at a significantly larger scale, allowing for a cost-efficient build-out and integration of offshore wind. Key value drivers include a substantial reduction in power transmission costs, large-scale offshore green hydrogen production and related synergies between power and hydrogen production.

Copenhagen Energy Islands is an independent company majority-owned by CIP and a group of investors. The founding group includes major Nordic, European and North American investors with a track record of investments in renewable energy infrastructure, including PensionDanmark, PFA, SEB, and Andel.

“Our vision is to provide concrete solutions to the global challenge of scaling up renewables. If we want to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, we will need to scale up the deployment of offshore wind and other renewables to an unprecedented level. Today, the challenge for offshore wind is less about building the incremental offshore wind farm, but more how to integrate large-scale offshore wind energy into the global energy systems. We see energy islands as a key tool in solving this challenge and realizing the ambitious offshore wind targets across the globe,” said Jakob Baruël Poulsen, Managing Partner and founder of CIP.

Copenhagen Energy Islands is headquartered in Copenhagen with a team of industry professionals with extensive experience within renewables, infrastructure, and finance.

Meanwhile, agricultural product prices continued to improve. Confident that the price of pork during Chinese New Year will increase slightly.

Mr. Wattanasak Suea-iam, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, mentioned the selling price of milk products in the market after the Milk Board, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, announced an increase in the price of raw cow milk to 22.75 baht/kg, or an increase of 2.25 baht/kg. As a result, the cost of producing fresh milk and milk products has increased. Recently, 1-2 business operators have submitted a proposal to adjust the selling price of UHT milk products to the Department of Internal Trade. But the documents are still incomplete, so there is

However, if the documents submitted to the Department of Internal Trade are correct and complete. The Department will take approximately 15 days to determine whether or not the price adjustment is allowed.

However, regarding the sales situation at this time, after discussion with the entrepreneurs, it was found that most of the entrepreneurs themselves understood that the purchasing power of the people had not yet fully recovered. Entrepreneurs choose to use management methods. Try to stimulate more consumption so that consumers make more purchasing decisions. Instead, prices are adjusted based on cost. Bottled palm oil is priced at 45 baht, with pork and chicken meat. and the price of chicken eggs has increased But it is still in a situation where the price is appropriate for farmers’ costs.

However, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Has ordered the Department of Internal Trade Follow the price situation closely in order to maintain a balance between farmers, producers and the consumer public. Especially pork at this time The price has been increased and it is expected that near the C
hinese New Year festival the price will increase even more as demand increases. Still following the price situation closely. in order to maintain the selling price at an appropriate level But it is believed that the price of pork this year and near the Chinese New Year festival will not be as high as last year. Recently, the average price of pork is approximately 133 baht per kilogram, and chicken eggs are priced at 3.60 baht per egg.

In addition to the prices of general consumer products, the Department also asks for cooperation. to product manufacturers, retail stores and department stores in fixing product prices to help with people’s living expenses, especially during Chinese New Year The department will organize a special project to reduce the price of essential items, including offerings to the people.
