NFA bolsters Cheap Food Movement to ensure price stability

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Food Agency (NFA) is working to ensure food availability and food price stability during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr by intensifying the Cheap Food Movement (GPM).Until early Ramadan, 75 districts and cities from 15 provinces have submitted applications for GPM to the agency, NFA head Arief Prasetyo Adi informed here on Tuesday. The 15 provinces are West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), West Java, Aceh, Gorontalo, Papua, Southeast Sulawesi, Jambi, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, South Papua, and Bengkulu. “The number will still continue to grow because every day, the NFA’s deputy I that is in charge of food availability and stabilization intensively coordinates with the food affairs offices, both at the province and district/city levels,” Adi said. The GPM program is a cheap market operation that provides various staple foods at affordable prices, he explained. It is aimed at maintaining food price affordability, improving people’s purchasing power, and controlling regional inflation. “People can get staple foods at affordable prices or below the market prices. What is certain is we ensure the quality of the products sold there,” he said. Foods that are usually sold under the program are rice, cooking oil, chili, chicken meat, eggs, shallots, garlic, ruminant meat, and flour. For late March and throughout April, the GPM has been scheduled at several locations. The GPM is being held in NTB province and several districts such as Rejang Lebong, Jepara, Purworejo, Central Lampung, Magelang, and Kudus from March 2631, 2023. In April, it will be held in several provinces such as NTT, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and South Papua, and several districts such as Bulungan, Jepara, Sangihe Islands, Temanggung, Aceh Tamiang, Blora, Merauke, and Boven Digoel. di further said that the GPM was also been carried out before Ramadan, namely from March 1 to 17 in 18 provinces and 57 districts and cities. “In principle, we are facilitating and preparing the GPM program to be carried out throughout the year considering its role as an instrument for controlling prices and food inflation,” he said. baca-jugaRelated news: Minister ensures food prices stable as Ramadhan 1444 H arrivesRelated news: Anticipate bad weather risk to maintain food supply: BIRelated news: andgtovernment probes cause behind rice price hike despite harvest period

Bank Indonesia says QRIS connecting 31 mln users, 25 mln merchants

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The national digital payment Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) has connected around 31 million users and 25 million merchants so far, according to Bank Indonesia (BI).”As many as 91 percent of those merchants are micro-enterprises,” said Assistant Governor of BI, Filianingsih Hendarta, at the “High-Level Seminar From ASEAN to The World” entitled “Payment System in the Digital Era,” held in Badung, Bali, on Tuesday. ccording to her, the achievement has illustrated the standardization of the national QR code for payment transactions. QRIS has shown a significant improvement since its launch in early 2020, both in terms of transaction nominal and volume. In 2020, QRIS transactions in Indonesia reached 124 million with a value of Rp8.2 trillion (around US$544.8 million). Then, in 2021, the number of transactions increased to 375 million and their value jumped to Rp27.73 trillion (around US$1.84 billion). In 2022, the number of transactions rose to 993 million with a value pegged at Rp98.45 trillion (around US$6.54 billion). Hendarta further said that standardization of payment transactions has also been carried out in the payment of transportation services as well as government transactions, including domestic credit card schemes. In addition, BI established the Open API National Standard (SNAP) earlier in July 2022. SNAP enables open interconnection between applications in payments. “Therefore, SNAP balances the position between banks and non-banks, thus enabling healthy innovations and competitions to grow,” she explained. The BI assistant governor said that all the standardization has been carried out in line with the rapid development of domestic payment systems and widespread digitalization. The standardization is also a part of the Indonesia Payment Systems Blueprint 2025, which has become a game changer for the country. baca-jugaRelated news: Common ASEAN currency currently not a priority: Secretary GeneralRelated news: BI optimistic of 2023 digital finance growthRelated news: Jokowi supports payment connectivity in ASEAN to enter global level

Provide allowance to workers 7 days before Eid, companies told

(The disbursement of) the THR aims to help meet the needs of the workers and their families in welcoming the religious holiday. Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Manpower Ministry has said that the Eid Al-Fitr allowance (THR) must be paid in full to employees no later than seven days before the holiday, which is expected to fall on April 22, 2023.”The THR must be given in full, not through installments. We urge companies to disburse the THR before the due date (April 15),” Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah said at a press conference on the 2023 THR payment policy here on Tuesday. She informed that the THR payment provisions have been outlined in Circular Letter Number M/2/HK.04.00/III/2023 concerning the Payment of THR in 2023 for Workers in Companies. The Indonesian people usually celebrate the holy day with their families, friends, and relatives, she noted. Hence, there is usually an increase in the demand for and prices of several basic commodities used in the preparations for the celebration, the minister said. “Hence, (same) as what we had implemented in the previous years, we issued the THR policy. (The disbursement of) the THR aims to help meet the needs of the workers and their families in welcoming the religious holiday,” she said. She said that the allowance has been provided to all workers who meet the legal requirements, including employees with Permanent Employment Contracts (PKWTT), workers with Temporary Employment Contracts (PKWT), as well as freelance workers. Employees who have worked for 12 months or more will be given the THR in the amount of one month’s wages, Fauziyah informed. Meanwhile, for workers who have worked less than 12 months, the allowance will be proportional, namely, the number of months they have worked multiplied by one month’s wages and divided by 12, she disclosed. She further said that companies are allowed to provide THR at a higher amount than the government’s provision. The minister informed that the export-oriented labor-intensive industrial companies, which implement the working hour and wage adjustment as stipulated in the Regulation of Manpower Minister Number 5 of 2023, are also required to pay the 2023 Eid allowance. “The (value of) wage used as the basis for calculating (the amount of) the THR is the last (value of) wage (implemented) before the wage adjustment is made,” she informed. She asked all governors and their ranks to ensure that the companies in their respective regions disburse the THR in accordance with the regulations. baca-jugaRelated news: Prompt, timely 2023 Eid allowance payment to be ensured: MinisterRelated news: Will take action on Eid allowance reports: Manpower MinistryRelated news: West Java governor asks companies to pay Eid allowance promptly

Ministry launches e-learning platform for civil servants

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Religious Affairs has launched the Digital Learning Center and Smart Classroom for state civil apparatus (ASN) to increase their services and skills development.”Not only that, but this platform is also provided for the general public who have been helping the ministry’s work,” Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas remarked here on Tuesday. Qoumas said the platform’s launch was a part of digital transformation efforts in all the ministry’s services. He praised the innovation carried out by the RandD and Education and Training (Litbang Diklat) Agency of the Religious Affairs Ministry. ccording to him, the existence of the platform reflects the ministry’s commitment to providing the best and fast service. The management of human resources within the ministry requires special handling because there are more than 1.8 million people working for the ministry, he said. The number includes 237 thousand civil servants. The rest are non-civil servants. “It is not easy to manage this huge amount of human resources, especially those in remote areas,” he said. He shared the results of the Professionalism and Religious Moderation Index conducted by the ministry through a Computer Assisted Test (CAT) some time ago, which shows that 40 percent of civil servants in the ministry fall into the unprofessional category. “The indicators are clear, as they did not receive regular training or competency improvement in the last two years,” he said. The Digital Learning Center and Smart Classroom will be operated through the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) method, making it able to reach tens of thousands of participants in one training. Participants can attend the training independently and get certificates without leaving their job during working hours. The platform is considered efficient because it does not require large costs compared to on-site training. baca-jugaRelated news: Vocational revitalization aimed at realizing 2045 vision: ministerRelated news: Minister asks LPT-NU to extensively adopt Freedom in LearningRelated news: andgtood-quality books will whet children’s interest in reading: Minister

Digital payment to support MSME strengthening: Legislator

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The development of digital payment methods would help strengthen the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector in Indonesia, according to a member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR)Mukhamad Misbakhun.”For example, QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard). It is very helpful for the digitalization of payment systems so that it helps the strengthening of MSMEs,” he said at the Akurat.co webinar, which was followed from here on Tuesday. QRIS has reached more than 20.5 million MSMEs as of October 2022. Misbakhun said that the use of QRIS among MSMEs also includes traders at traditional and modern markets. ccording to him, it indicates that the use of QRIS has become increasingly widespread and known by people at various levels. When this process is carried out, they will get used to building governance in their company,” he added. part from MSME digitalization, he called for government budget and policy affirmation for MSMEs. In terms of budget, the government has allotted Rp45.8 trillion for the MSME sector. Meanwhile, in terms of policy, the government has readied various programs, such as credit restructuring and interest subsidies, to support MSMEs. The legislator further said that Commission XI of the DPR will continue to monitor the government’s efforts to support the strengthening of MSMEs’ role. BPOM traces sales of syrup drugs containing pholcodine

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The National Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) is currently attempting to trace the sales of syrup drugs containing pholcodine in Indonesia following the recall of such products in Australia. In a statement released on Monday, BPOM said that no medicines containing the substance have been registered in Indonesia. However, the agency is investigating the possibility of the online sale of the products in Indonesia. Head of the cooperation and public relations bureau of BPOM, Noorman Effendi, told ANTARA on Tuesday that Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has recalled products containing pholcodine since February 28, 2023. TGA revoked the distribution permit and recalled products containing pholcodine due to drug safety and public health reasons. The decision was made after the use of pholcodine was found to interact with neuromuscular blocking agents given through general anesthesia during surgery and cause anaphylaxis, a severe and life-threatening allergic reaction. BPOM noted that pholcodine is an opioid medicine that can be used to treat dry coughs and flu symptoms in children and adults as it suppresses the cough center in the brain. Meanwhile, codeine, a drug with a similar mechanism of action and functions as pholcodine, is still being used in Indonesia under strict government monitoring and must be used according to the doctor’s prescription, the agency said. BPOM appealed to the public to be vigilant before taking any medication and only purchase drugs at pharmacies, licensed drugstores, community health centers (puskesmas), and hospitals. It is also advisable to carry out online purchases at pharmacies that have an Online Pharmacy System Operator (PSEF) Permit, as well as check the distribution permit and expiration date of medicines before buying and taking them. In addition, the agency has asked the public to read the product information on the packaging labels of the drug and ensure that the packaging of the product is in good condition. baca-jugaRelated news: Six pharma companies produce syrups with unsafe EG/DEG levels: BPOMRelated news: andgtovernment continues investigating cause of child kidney failure cases

Israel’s presence at World Cup unrelated to foreign policy: Jokowi

Thus, do not link sports issues with political affairs. Jakarta (ANTARA) – Israel’s participation in the 2023 U-20 World Cup is not related to Indonesia’s foreign policy, which continues to support Palestine, according to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).”Because our support for Palestine is always solid and firm,” he stated in a video broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Tuesday. He said that the Indonesian government agrees with the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al-Shun, regarding the implementation of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from May 20 to June 11. Jokowi stressed that FIFA–the international football governing body–has various regulations that must be followed by its members. “Thus, do not link sports issues with political affairs,” he stated. He began the broadcast by emphasizing that it has always been Indonesia’s principle to consistently fight for the independence of the Palestinian people. dditionally, he added that Indonesia supports the realization of a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine. He stated that Indonesia’s support for Palestine aligns with the Constitution, which opposes any colonial acts. “We always highlight this matter at bilateral, multilateral, and other international forums,” he said. Jokowi also highlighted that Indonesia won the right to host the World Cup in October 2019 after competing with Brazil and Peru through a long bidding process. He added that during that time, Indonesia was unsure of which countries would participate in the cup as all national teams were still in the pre-qualifying stage. The Indonesia President stated that it was only confirmed in July 2022 that the Israeli national team was eligible to play at the U-20 World Cup in 2023. FIFA is aware of the rejection of Israel’s participation in the cup, and the Indonesian government and the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) will work together to find the best solution to this issue, he said. “Therefore, I have asked the general chairperson of PSSI, Erick Thohir, to meet with the FIFA’s team to seek the best solution,” he added. baca-jugaRelated news: Indonesia still lobbying FIFA on hosting World Cup: MinisterRelated news: Indonesia ensures safety of World Cup teams, including Israel
