MotoGP: Dirt disrupts pre-season test, MGPA awaits Dorna inquiry

Jakarta The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) said it is waiting for Dorna Sports and the International Motorcycling Federation to investigate the presence of dirt on Mandalika Circuit, which disrupted the MotoGP pre-test session on Friday.

Vice president director of MGPA, Cahyadi Wanda, informed that he had an in-person meeting with the chief sporting officer of Dorna Sports, Carlos Ezpeleta, over the issue.

“Carlos has calmed us and told us not to worry, saying that the situation is normal (for a new circuit). In addition, considering that massive development is still undergoing at the circuit, thus dust may be found on the track,” he said at the circuit in Central Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province, on Saturday.

Inside the circuit area, workers are still constructing spectator stands and other supporting buildings, while outside the circuit area, they are widening the entrance road to the circuit, he noted.

The presence of dirt was also exacerbated by the thin racing line since the new circuit is rarely used, thus its asphalt does not often come in contact with rubber tires, he informed.

In addition, there was a downpour on Thursday night, he said. Thus, the dust and water made the circuit a little muddy, he explained.

2020 MotoGP champion Joan Mir said that he had encountered mud on the track.

Meanwhile, RNF Yamaha team’s Andrea Dovizioso stated that he came across some pebbles loosened by the tires of motorbikes in front of him.

1.6 million Aceh residents receive COVID-19 vaccine second dose

Banda Aceh Merely 1,648,791 people, or 40.9 percent of the residents in Aceh province, had received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccination, according to the Aceh Health Office.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Aceh Health Office, Iman Murahman, remarked on Saturday that the vaccination rate for the second dose was still very low as compared to recipients of the first dose that had been administered to 80.7 percent of the Acehnese population, or 3,251,138 people.

Murahman stated that the second dose of vaccination was currently being expedited for all districts and cities.

He explained that the Government of Aceh was aiming to reach the 70-percent target by December 2021 for the first dose of vaccination, but the goal was only achieved in early January of 2022.

Thus, residents, who had received the first dose in late December 2021 to early January 2022, could not take the second dose right away, as the second shot could only be administered 28 days after having received the first dose.

VP urges young Indonesian Muslims to become globally competitive

Jakarta Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has said that he wants the young Indonesian Muslim generation to compete at the global level so that they can become role models, not just “watchers.”

“Indonesian Muslim youths should be a role model for the world’s Muslim generation, meaning they are moderate, tolerant, globally competitive, and developed,” Amin remarked at the 8th commencement of the Bani Fattah Islamic Studies Institute (IAIBAFA) for the 2021–2022 academic year. He joined the event from his official residence, here on Saturday.

According to Amin, there are several things that the younger generation must pay attention to in order to thrive in society.

First, tolerance is key to a harmonious life amidst the nation’s plurality, he said. “This value must continue to be implemented; do not abandon our national values, because it is our identity as Indonesians,” the Vice President remarked.

Second, international developments need to be noted while formulating domestic policies in the country, he said.

RUU TPKS: KSP lauds collaboration on problem inventory list

Jakarta Deputy V of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Jaleswari Pramodhawardani, has lauded the collaboration of various parties for completing the problem inventory list (DIM) for the sexual violence prevention bill (RUU TPKS).

“This is the result of collective work of many parties, all government components to monitor the process in the House of Representatives (DPR RI),” Pramodhawardani remarked here on Saturday.

The completed problem inventory list for RUU TPKS has 588 entries summarized in 12 chapters and 81 articles, she informed.

The DIM was signed by the Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, the Minister of Social Affairs, the Minister of Law and Human Rights, and the Minister of Home Affairs on Friday morning to be submitted to the House.

The RUU TPKS Acceleration Task Force, which was formed in April 2021 by the KSP, conducted six discussions with the society, academia, ministries and institutions, the Supreme Court, and the House’s Legislation Agency, among others, Pramodhawardani said.

The government and the House were on the same frequency because of well-established communication through intensive discussions, she added. This factor also expedited efforts to prepare the government’s DIM, she said.
