ROME, Dec. 02, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The agreement reached today between ITA Airways and the trade unions is the result of a negotiation between the parties, carried out in compliance with their respective positions and with a collaborative spirit with the aim of protecting the Company’s workers and ensuring consistency with the objectives of the Strategic Plan of the Company itself.

The company has appreciated the openness of the trade unions that have recognized the peculiarities of the Company, linked to its nature as a start-up, to achieve and maintain over time a structural competitiveness of costs that makes it functional within the strategic design of a long-term partnership.

With the return of ITA Airways among its members, following the change in the leadership of the association with the entry of representatives appointed by ITA Airways, Assaereo has signed today the renewal of the specific part of the carriers of the National Air Transport Agreement, defining specific rules in supporting start-up activities and a new salary regime that can facilitate its diffusion in the sector, contributing to the improvement of competitiveness for all companies in the air transport sector itself.
Downstream of this agreement, ITA Airways and the trade unions signed the supplementary company agreement.

Overall, this agreement supports the strategic path of the Company which provides for employment growth as early as 2022, in line with the macro-economic and specific trend of world air transport, and development opportunities for flight crew. In fact, in the next few weeks, new courses for the training of Commanders will be launched to be used also on the new generation machines that ITA Airways will receive in the coming months from Airbus, as announced yesterday. It should be noted that the latest Command Training Courses date back to over 10 years ago, an important concrete sign that demonstrates the Company’s attention to flight personnel and their training, in order to fill roles of increasing responsibility. A minimum of 130 courses is expected in 2022.

Particular attention has been paid to corporate welfare and precisely this last element represents a big novelty of the new contract. In fact, for the first time, Health Assistance will also be recognized for all ground employees, while for the flight crew there will be an increase of the premium compared to current conditions. This is a proposal carried out by the Company confirming the attention to “people” who represent the pillar of the business plan.

Furthermore, within this new Industrial Relations Protocol, a Result Bonus is introduced for all ITA Airways employees, which will be calculated by combining the Company’s economic profitability and customer satisfaction, measured using the NPS certified system (Net Promoter Score). This variable component will represent 15% of the salary level and will be articulated on a six-monthly basis. The conditions for 2022 remain unchanged, while, in line with what was already foreseen by other airlines that had reduced wages due to the pandemic, from 2023 there will be a progressive realignment of the wage elements, starting from a 3% increase for pilots and 1% for flight attendants.

G20 Presidency will allow Indonesia to set global discussion agenda

The Presidency of the G20 will allow Indonesia to lead the discussion with agendas favorable to its interests, research director of the Indonesia Center of Reform on Economics (CORE), Piter Abdullah, has opined.

“By presiding over the G20, we could set the agenda for G20 meetings with themes that are suited most to our global economic interest, though this would not be an easy task,” he said during a public discussion hosted by the COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KPC-PEN) in Jakarta on Friday.

Indonesia could also set agendas favorable to other countries, such as on the global healthcare architecture, digital economy, and new and renewable energies, he said.

Unlike the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank that regulate the global financial system, no such organization has been established for the global healthcare sector despite the sector being vital for economic development, he pointed out.

“I am relieved upon learning that our Health Minister is an economist; therefore, we could shift the paradigm that population well-being is not only a healthcare issue but also an economic issue,” Abdullah remarked.

After striving to tackle the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the country could utilize the G20 platform to discuss measures necessary to prevent the global economy from declining further, he said.

Indonesia’s economy recorded a growth of minus 2.07 percent after the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, he noted.

“We could set the COVID-19 issue as part of our agenda. Besides benefiting the global community, the agenda will surely be advantageous for us,” Abdullah said.

Indonesia will experience a hike in foreign tourist arrivals and revenue from the tourism industry as short-term benefits of its G20 Presidency, he informed.

“If we organize G20 meetings in one province, for instance, in Bali, I believe the province will be economically benefited by the events,” the expert remarked.

Youth Culture Camp encouraging innovations for village advancement

The Youth Culture Camp (KBKM) 2021 program is encouraging innovations based on technology for the advancement of villages, an official from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’, Fitra Arda, has said.

“KBKM 2021 provides a space for the younger generation to create. It is a platform for them to pour their ideas for cultural advancement,” he noted during a media briefing here on Friday.

For KBKM 2021, the ministry has involved all parties, including the younger generation with disabilities, for the advancement of villages, he added.

In 2021, the ministry has upheld the theme of innovation in villages, Arda said. The younger generation should utilize the potential that exists within the village, he added.

“They should develop the potential that the village possesses. The produced innovation should combine cultural inheritance with technological advancement,” he explained.

For example, they could make a wooden house that is not only resilient to earthquakes but also fire, he said. This innovation should be done based on technology, he added.

Twenty-one teams are participating in KBKM this year, Judi Wahjudin, another official from the ministry, informed.

“We not only conduct monitoring, but also meeting and mentorship with investors,” he elaborated.

The activity has been synergized with cultural advancement village activities, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and also regional governments, he said.

The winner of KBKM 2021, Assajie Satyananda, said that his team developed an application called Sirel for fulfilling the need for temple tourism.

The application can provide information concerning the reliefs within temples such as the Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, and Sojiwan Temple.

“This application could provide temple relief information in the form of audio or text,” he explained.

He said his team is also seeking the empowerment of local residents by developing tourism attractions so that the preservation of cultural sites can yield real benefits for villagers.
