18-Wheel Trailer Truck Collides with Train on Khlong Luek-Bangkok Route, Resulting in Fatalities and Injuries

Sa kaeo: An 18-wheel trailer truck crashed into a train on the Khlong Luek-Bangkok route in Ban Huai Jot, Tambon Huai Jot, Amphoe Watthana Nakhon, Sa Kaeo Province, resulting in the death of the trailer truck driver and injuries to four others.

According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred at a railway crossing on Suwannason Road in Ban Huai Chot, Tambon Huai Chot, Amphoe Watthana Nakhon. The incident took place yesterday evening when the trailer truck collided with a passenger train nearing its destination. The collision caused one of the train's carriages to derail, obstructing its journey.

The crash led to the death of Mr. Charoen, a 44-year-old driver from Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province, who was trapped and crushed at the front of the trailer. Rescue teams were required to use cutting tools to extricate his body. Additionally, the accident injured four individuals, including three train passengers and a railway official. The official was hurt while installing car barriers on the tracks and was subsequently transported to Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospital in Sa Kaeo for treatment.

The accident also caused damage to nearby properties, including a railway official's motorcycle, a pickup truck waiting behind the barrier, and another trailer truck in the vicinity. Following the incident, both police and State Railway of Thailand officials swiftly arrived to inspect the scene, clear the route, and assist the affected passengers.
