Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has announced that some areas of northern Thailand will experience heavy rain, while some areas of the southern region will experience thunderstorms. Meanwhile, 60% of Bangkok and its vicinity will experience thunderstorms.
According to Thai News Agency, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that some areas of upper Thailand will face heavy rain, whereas thunderstorms are expected in parts of the southern region. Residents in upper Thailand are advised to remain vigilant against potential hazards like flash floods, forest runoff, and mudslides, especially in hilly areas near waterways and lowlands. This situation arises from the monsoon trough traversing through the northern part of the country and upper Laos into the low-pressure cell in northern Vietnam, accompanied by the southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand with moderate intensity.
The report further states that sea conditions in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are moderate, with waves in the upper Andaman Sea reaching 1-2 meters, while the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand experience waves approximately 1 meter high. In regions experiencing thunderstorms, wave heights can exceed 2 meters. Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are urged to navigate cautiously and avoid areas with thunderstorms.
In Bangkok and its surrounding areas, thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the region, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 25-28 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 33-36 degrees Celsius, accompanied by southwesterly winds at 10-20 km/hr.
The northern region will witness thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with heavy rain anticipated in specific locations such as Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and others. Temperatures will vary from 23-26 degrees Celsius to 31-36 degrees Celsius, with southwesterly winds at 10-20 km/hr.
The northeastern region is forecasted to have thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with heavy rain in places like Loei, Nong Khai, and others. The minimum temperature is expected to be 22-24 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 30-35 degrees Celsius and southwesterly winds at 10-20 km/hr.
In the central region, thunderstorms are predicted in 70% of the area, with heavy rain in parts of Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, and others. Temperatures will range from 23-26 degrees Celsius to 34-36 degrees Celsius with southwesterly winds at 10-20 km/hr.
The eastern region will experience thunderstorms in 60% of the area with heavy rain in regions such as Nakhon Nayok and Prachin Buri. The minimum temperature will be 24-27 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 28-33 degrees Celsius, and southwesterly winds at 15-30 km/hr. Sea waves around 1 meter high are expected, increasing to over 2 meters during thunderstorms.
The southern region (East Coast) will have thunderstorms in 30% of the area, mainly affecting provinces like Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. The temperatures will range from 23-25 degrees Celsius to 33-36 degrees Celsius, with southwesterly winds at 15-30 km/hr. Sea waves will be about 1 meter, increasing in thunderstorms.
In the southern region (West Coast), thunderstorms will occur in 30% of the area, mostly in provinces such as Ranong and Phang Nga. Temperatures will be between 23-26 degrees Celsius and 32-34 degrees Celsius. Winds from Phuket upwards will be southwesterly at 15-35 km/hr with waves 1-2 meters high, and from Krabi downwards, winds will be 15-30 km/hr with waves around 1 meter high, increasing during thunderstorms.
