Young Man Arrested After Attempting Roof Escape at Rong Kluea Market

Aranyaprathet: Rangers from the Burapha Task Force have arrested a 21-year-old man identified as Mr. Rattanakon from Sa Kaeo Province, who attempted to re-enter Thailand by climbing onto the roof of Rong Kluea Market in the Aranyaprathet District. Mr. Rattanakon was intercepted during his daring nighttime escape attempt as he tried to sneak back into the country. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Rattanakon admitted to working for a gambling website in Poipet, Cambodia. He revealed that his border pass had expired, prompting his risky decision to climb the market roof to return home. Additionally, he confessed to evading the military draft in April, which added urgency to his need to cross the border clandestinely. To facilitate his escape, he hired a Cambodian man to guide him through a natural passage, but his efforts were ultimately thwarted by the rangers. Following his arrest, Mr. Rattanakon was taken to Khlong Luek Police Station, where he faces prosecution for illegal border crossing. The authoritie s are now processing his case, highlighting the ongoing challenges of illegal border crossings and draft evasion in the region.
