Bangkok: "Yotsingh" conducted a thorough inspection of the Lat Krabang water treatment system, mandating factories to maintain water quality and prohibiting them from releasing untreated wastewater into Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, Petty Officer 1st Class Yotsingh Liamlert, Deputy Minister of Industry, visited the Lat Krabang Industrial Estate to oversee the effectiveness of water management systems and enforce measures preventing wastewater discharge from factories. Bangkok has been recognized as a high-risk area for environmental impacts, necessitating stringent controls. During the visit, Yotsingh was accompanied by Ms. Phadhat Worakanon, Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mr. Peerawat Somwong, Secretary to the Deputy Minister, a team of advisors, and was welcomed by Mr. Prateep Engchuan, Deputy Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (Operations 1), along with estate executives.
The Lat Krabang Industrial Estate spans over 2,600 rai and hosts over 280 businesses, employing nearly 50,000 workers. The estate's infrastructure developments include flood prevention systems, clean energy initiatives such as solar cells, and a wastewater treatment system designed to be odorless, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding community.
Petty Officer 1st Class Yotsingh stressed that industrial estates in Bangkok must adhere to enhanced standards regarding safety, environmental preservation, and wastewater management. He emphasized the prohibition of releasing untreated wastewater, underlining the necessity for every wastewater to meet established standards to prevent adverse effects on Bangkok and its communities.
Yotsingh appealed to business operators to uphold rigorous measures for maintaining water quality and drainage systems within the estate. He emphasized preparedness for heavy rainfall or emergencies to avert any leakage of contaminated water. He commended the estate's management for their focus on clean energy, community care, and efficient wastewater treatment systems. He also proposed enhancing employment opportunities to bolster the community economy and alleviate traffic congestion in Bangkok.
