“Wisut” Dismisses Nida Poll and Calls for “Paethongtarn” to Resign

Bangkok: "Wisut" dismisses the Nida Poll, urging "Paethongtarn" to step down, expressing confusion over the poll's questions and requesting that "Big Tu" not be reintroduced after nine years of service. He emphasizes that in the event of a political mishap, "Chaikasem" would be the sole candidate put forward.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut Chainarun, a Member of Parliament for the Pheu Thai Party list and chairman of the government coalition coordination committee, addressed the outcomes of the Nida Poll. The poll indicated that a majority of the public believed Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the prime minister, should resign in favor of Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, the candidate from the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party. Mr. Wisut expressed confusion over the poll's questions and asserted that MPs returning from provinces still voiced support for Ms. Paethongtarn. He emphasized that, in the current selection process for the prime minister, Ms. Paethongtarn remains the candidate. In the event of a political mishap, Mr. Chaikasem Nitisiri would be proposed, adhering to democratic procedures without bypassing any steps.

Mr. Wisut further clarified that if a political accident were to occur involving Ms. Paethongtarn, the Pheu Thai Party would indeed propose Mr. Chaikasem and not candidates from other coalition parties. He noted that the focus should be on pressing issues such as the Trump tax and border concerns, which are more significant than the poll results. He reassured that the government is operating normally and that with collective efforts, challenges can be overcome. Ministers are also actively participating in parliamentary sessions to ensure smooth proceedings.

Mr. Wisut highlighted that currently, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, acting as Prime Minister, is taking determined actions to curb drug issues by coordinating with various administrative and enforcement agencies. He expressed optimism that these efforts would lead to economic improvements and a reduction in social problems. Additionally, he underscored the importance of addressing call center scams from neighboring countries. Mr. Wisut called for unity and stability within the parliament, emphasizing that the amnesty law would be enacted to foster reconciliation and unity, paving the way for a strong and harmonious nation.
