Wisut Confirms Agenda for Selecting Second Vice President of House of Representatives Set for Thursday

Bangkok: Wisut Chainarun, a Pheu Thai Party-list MP and chairman of the government coalition coordination committee, has announced that the selection process for the second Vice President of the House of Representatives is set to take place this Thursday. This decision has been made independent of the ongoing case involving Mr. Pichet Chueamuangphan, the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut emphasized that the agenda, as determined by Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, the House Speaker, will proceed on July 24th, without waiting for the Constitutional Court's decision regarding Mr. Pichet's case, which is expected on August 1st. The decision underscores the importance of adhering to the established agenda.

Mr. Wisut also confirmed that the position of the second deputy speaker is expected to be filled by a member of the Pheu Thai Party. However, he noted that the final decision would be made in a party meeting scheduled for July 22, emphasizing that the choice will be determined by a vote among the MPs, free from external influence.

Addressing the interests of coalition parties in the position, Mr. Wisut stated that while all parties have shown interest, it is considered inappropriate to propose competition for the role. He expressed confidence that no competitive challenges would arise, thus alleviating any concerns regarding the selection process.

The upcoming coalition party meeting on July 22 will involve routine discussions and consultations, marking the second such meeting since the formation of the government. Mr. Wisut conveyed that these discussions are part of normal operations and aim at fostering cooperative governance.
