Warawut Addresses Mental Health Concerns on Thai-Cambodian Border

Bangkok: "Warawut" has expressed concern regarding the mental health of vulnerable populations along the Thai-Cambodian border, urging the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to rigorously adhere to established work guidelines.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security and leader of the Chartthaipattana Party, emphasized the importance of monitoring the tense situation at the border. He has instructed the Permanent Secretary of the MSDHS to ensure that officials in provinces such as Trat, Chanthaburi, Sa Kaeo, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, and Buriram follow the Disaster Vulnerable Groups Administration Center's guidelines. The MSDHS is committed to supporting vulnerable groups affected by the unrest, including children, the disabled, and the elderly.

Warawut has called for officials to integrate efforts with security agencies and other ministries, such as the Interior, Defense, and Public Health Ministries, to provide comprehensive care for vulnerable communities. The Center for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation is prepared to offer immediate assistance, including counseling and rehabilitation services, to those experiencing stress or anxiety due to the situation. The center maintains detailed information on vulnerable groups and is ready to coordinate with provincial and rescue agencies for potential evacuations.

Warawut urged the public to consume news cautiously to avoid unnecessary stress, particularly among the elderly and children. He advised reliance on official government sources to prevent misinformation and emphasized his concern for the well-being of the public during these challenging times.
