Buriram: Villagers in Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province, are facing difficulties as they call on the government to address the ongoing Thai-Cambodian border conflict. Despite more than a month of tensions, residents continue their daily lives with growing concerns, seeking a swift resolution.
According to Thai News Agency, villagers of Sai Tho 6 Tai in Tambon Chanthaphet, located on the Thai-Cambodian border, are living amid fears as the conflict shows no signs of resolution. The prolonged dispute has led to safety concerns, with some villagers hesitant to engage in routine activities such as rubber tapping or farming during early hours. The closure of the Chong Sai Taku relaxation checkpoint has prompted vendors and villagers to seek alternative sources of income, impacting their livelihoods.
Moreover, many families are taking precautionary measures by keeping clothes and essential belongings ready for a potential evacuation as per government instructions. Ms. Amporn, a resident of Sai Tho 6 Tai, expressed the community's desire for the government and security agencies to negotiate a resolution swiftly, allowing villagers to resume their regular activities and trade without fear.
