Village Volunteer Thrives with Organic Egg-Laying Chicken Business

Nakhon Ratchasima: A dedicated village health volunteer has successfully turned her backyard into a lucrative organic egg-laying chicken business, earning over 20,000 baht monthly. Mrs. Tim Ngobkokkrawad, a 52-year-old resident of Sai Chon Phatthana Village, has built a chicken coop behind her home, housing 200 hens that produce nearly 200 eggs daily.

According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Tim invested in 200 young hens and feeds them a nutritious diet consisting of red duckweed, Napier grass, and laying hen feed. This unique diet ensures high-quality eggs, with customers appreciating the distinct separation of egg yolk and white, as well as the absence of any fishy smell.

The chickens are housed in an organic barn under suitable conditions, promoting their health and reducing stress. The coop's setting under a tree ensures the hens enjoy fresh air, sunlight, and shade. Mrs. Tim collects 190-195 eggs daily, which are sold by weight. Customers prefer purchasing eggs by the kilo, receiving 32-33 eggs for 120 baht, compared to 30 eggs in a tray for the same price.

This egg-laying business serves as a profitable sideline for Mrs. Tim, who also works as a village health volunteer, earning 700-800 baht per day or 20,000-22,000 baht monthly. Her innovative approach has resulted in high demand, providing substantial support for her family.
