Surin: A member of a Vietnamese call center gang banged his head against a cell wall at Surin City Police Station. Rescue workers went in to treat the wound and struggled for scissors, hoping to stab himself, but were saved just in time.
According to Thai News Agency, progress in the case of the arrest of four Vietnamese call center gang members inside a two-storey commercial building in Tambon Tha Sawang, Amphoe Mueang, Surin Province, took a dramatic turn on February 9, 2025. The individuals were detained and sent to Surin Provincial Prison. Today, one of the gang members attempted to harm himself while being held in a cell at Mueang Surin Police Station by forcefully banging his head against the wall until it bled. Mueang Surin Police had to intervene to calm him down, coordinating with Surin Rescue to provide urgent first aid for the suspect, who had sustained a long open wound on his forehead.
While receiving treatment, the suspect attempted to grab scissors from a rescuer's hand to stab himself. However, the rescuer managed to pull back and subdue the suspect. Police officers assisted and transported the suspect to Surin Hospital for further care.
Pol. Col. Wiraphan Na Lampang, Superintendent of Surin City Police Station, indicated that the suspect's erratic behavior was likely due to stress and difficulty adjusting to the cell environment, despite fellow suspects being imprisoned there as well.
