Bangkok: Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, the President of the House of Representatives, emphasized the necessity of selecting the Second Deputy Speaker promptly. Following the resignation of Mr. Paradorn Prisananantakul from the position, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor highlighted the importance of assigning both the opposition and government whips to coordinate and set a date for the election, ensuring that the process does not impact other seats. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor clarified that the selection must occur in a House of Representatives meeting, with no stipulation on whether the candidate should be from the opposition or the government. He stressed that the votes would ultimately decide the outcome, and both whips need to promptly coordinate to organize the election, ideally by the upcoming meeting on the 3rd. Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor assured that filling the vacancy of the Second Deputy Speaker would not affect other positions, except in cases of resignation. He is confident that the pol itical landscape will soon stabilize, allowing for clarity on which political party will secure the role. He noted the possibility of both government and opposition parties proposing candidates, suggesting that a competitive vote is likely to occur. Furthermore, Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor mentioned that once the political parties report their number of MPs, the Office of the Secretary of the House of Representatives will organize seating arrangements according to the proportions of the opposition and government.
