Typhoon Wipha Floods Chiang Rai – Thoeng Hospital Temporarily Stops Accepting Patients

Chiang rai: Typhoon Wipha has flooded Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province. Flash floods have inundated houses and agricultural areas. Thoeng Hospital has announced that it will temporarily suspend general patient services and will only accept emergency patients. The district chief has ordered officials to help villagers move belongings to higher ground and evacuate patients and the elderly to safety.

According to Thai News Agency, heavy rain from the influence of storm Wipha caused flash floods to overflow into houses and agricultural areas in several districts of Chiang Rai Province, especially in Thoeng District. Government offices including Thoeng Police Station, Provincial Court, and Thoeng Hospital were flooded. The hospital had to stop providing services to general patients and only accept emergency patients. While the general situation is still heavy rain, the Thoeng District Chief went to the area and ordered officials to help villagers move belongings to higher ground and evacuate patients and the elderly to safety.

On Phahonyothin Road, Nang Lae Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District, flash floods from Doi Pong Phrabat overflowed and flooded the road on the way up, making travel difficult.
