True Corporation Enhances 5G Performance by Combining 2600+2300 MHz Spectrum

Bangkok: True Corporation is integrating the 2600 MHz and 2300 MHz spectrum to boost the 5G experience, achieving an 80% increase in performance with a 50% improvement in some areas utilizing the full 90 MHz 2600 MHz spectrum.

According to Thai News Agency, Prasert Tankuranan, Chief Information Technology Officer of True Corporation Public Company Limited, explained that the implementation of the ‘One Network’ strategy has elevated the standards of the Thai telecommunications industry. This initiative involves merging the signal towers and frequencies of True and dtac. The core of this project is the Network Modernization, which aims to unify the signal towers and infrastructure of both networks.

Tankuranan noted, “We have selected efficient towers to support current and future deployments, while also expanding 5G and 4G coverage.” The company has adopted Spectrum Pooling technology to consolidate key frequencies and conducted a Proof of Concept (POC) test by combining the 2600 MHz and 2300 MHz frequencies with Carrier Aggregation (CA) to further enhance network capacity.

The test results demonstrated that combining these two frequencies can significantly improve 5G network efficiency by approximately 80%, allowing full utilization of the 2600 MHz spectrum. Areas with the previously implemented 90 MHz bandwidth can see a performance increase of approximately 50%, enhancing the 5G customer experience. Additionally, the 1500 MHz spectrum is being used to improve the downlink of the 700 MHz spectrum.
