Truck Collision with Student-Carrying Motorcycle Results in Multiple Casualties

Bangkok: A devastating accident occurred when a 6-wheeled truck collided with a motorcycle equipped with a sidecar transporting students to Wat Monthon Prasit School. The collision resulted in three fatalities and six injuries. The incident happened on a rural road in the Wang Noi District, where the truck, registered in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, veered off course and crashed into a house fence, leaving the vehicle completely destroyed.

According to Thai News Agency, rescue workers had to employ cutting equipment to extricate two individuals trapped within the truck. Unfortunately, the passenger, identified as Mr. Phadungsak, aged 26, succumbed to his injuries, while the driver sustained severe injuries. Nearby, the motorcycle with the sidecar, carrying six students and one guardian, was found in a severely damaged state. Rescue teams promptly transported the injured to Wang Noi Hospital, but tragically, two students-Mr. Saeng, aged 17, and Miss Rachana, aged 10-were pronounced dead at the scene.

An officer from the Putthaisawan Foundation, residing near the incident site, recounted being alerted by villagers about the accident. Upon arrival, the officer found the truck lodged against the house wall and multiple injured individuals lying on the road. The officer immediately contacted relevant authorities to assist with the rescue efforts. CCTV footage revealed that the truck, traveling from Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, failed to brake at an intersection before striking the parked sidecar motorcycle, which was preparing to turn right. The impact scattered the students across the road, leading to the casualties.

Investigators have documented the accident scene and plan to interview the truck driver and trailer operator to determine the cause of the accident.
